Excellent Quotes by Warren Buffet

By: Pennyson

Warren Buffet consistently ranked among the world’s wealthiest people. I hope I can inspire you with his quotations:

1. On Earning: “Never depend on single income. Make investment to create a second source”.

That is what my grandmother always telling me because having only single income is not only dangerous but also a slow way of accumulating wealth. As one of thedefinition on risk – “Risk is having only single income”. For we do not know what the future holds, if it happens that our source of income is in danger or lost, it would be very hard to recover financially.
2. On Spending: “If you buy things you do not need, soon you will have to sell things you need”.

Discipline is always the key. Do not buy things you do not need. In riding a plane, what is the difference between the business class and economy class? Do you really have to spend so much for that difference? Do you really have to buy branded clothes just to look good? Are the things you are planning to buy necessary? Again, live simple. It is not bad to buy expensive things as long as it has its use.
3. On Savings: “Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving”.

This concerns about how you budget your money. Put your savings first before any expenses.
The bad formula: income – expenses = savings
The good formula: income – savings = expenses
4. On Taking Risk: “Never test the depth of the river with both the feet”.

Do not use all of your resources in gambling on a certain investment or else you’ll lose everything. Only a considerable portion of your resources should be put on a gamble
5. On Investment: “Do not put all eggs in one basket”.

Have your portfolio diversified. Putting it in one type of investment is risky.
6. On Expectations: “Honesty is a very expensive gift. Do not expect it from cheap people.

Do not expect too much from a simple thing. Make reasonable expectation because sometimes it may frustrate you if the returns are too much low from what you have expected.
.
Quotes are nuggets of wisdom from people who made it through their lives. All of it, we should apply in our lives too and share to others.

Will WM 28 generate more than 1 million buys?

Last year Wrestle Mania (WM 27) was a major success for the WWE, one thing Vince McMahon could boast about his company. Wrestle Mania is known as the Show of Shows, the grandest stage of them all. Wrestle Mania to the WWE is what the Superbowl is to NFL. Some pay-per-view of the WWE can disappoint, but one thing we are certain is that Wrestle Mania will always deliver. With 1,120,000 buys, WM 27 is the 2nd most purchased WWE PPV events second only to 2007 WrestleMania 23 which grosses 1,250,000 buys. Personally, the phenomenal number of the number of buy can be explained by 3 important reasons. Firstly, the Rock hosted WM 26. It was the appearance of the Rock for the first time in over 7 years. His appearance must have drawn in a large number of old audience and some mainstream viewers (who may not be wrestling fans) who want to see Dwayne The Rock Johnson in a WWE event. Secondly, credit was given to Snooki who wrestled in a mixed tag team match. Thirdly, the involvement of Stone Cold Steve Austin and other WWE superstars must be a factor for sure. WrestleMania 28 is just around the corner and the match cards is shaping to be the best and most epic WrestleMania of all time with the main event of The Rock vs John Cena; CM Punk vs Chris Jericho for the WWE Championship, Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship; and if you think of WrestleMania, one man will definitely comes to your mind – The Undertaker and he will wrestle Triple H in the most brutal match in the WWE: HELL IN CELL. WM 28 looks like it will be a phenomenal PPV. However, having said that, I still feel doubt that whether WM 28 will surpass 1 million buy, let alone the most purchased WWE PPV. Two reasons are behind my doubt.

The first reason is that the Rock appears to be not the same rating drawer like he was last year. Last year WM 27 people were excited to see their Attitude Era hero came back for the first time in 7 years. People were hyped to see what the Rock would do. However, the Rock does not seem to be the same larger-than-life man. His return to the ring and team up with John Cena at Survivor Serie 2011 was a disappointment from the business point of view. Survivor Serie drew about 300.000 buys. With the PPV hyped with the Rock first ever in-ring action, the buy rate did not significantly increase. Recent Raw episode featuring the Rock and Cena did not boost the rating dramatically. Last week’s episode only gained 3.2 rating which was a worry for the WWE. The rating should be at 3.9 or slightly over 4. Are people still interested in the Rock coming back or people have lose interest in the product because of the 1 year feud which the heat is over. I am really skeptical about this.

The second reason is the lack of celebrity for WM 28. WWE usually invites celebrity to the Grandest Stage of them all with the likes of Floyd Money Mayweather, Sumo Wrestler Akebono, Donald Trump, Snooki and so on. However, the big name celebrity is yet to be released. We are not certain whether WM 28 will feature some mainstream celebrity.

Gender Socialization

This is the script from my presentation regarding Gender socialization.

After listening to Sieng Hor’s explaination regarding how your occupation and workplace can shape your attitude and behaviour, let’s move on to another interesting yet controversial topic: Socialization into gender. Before I go any deeper, I’d like to pose some key questions regarding this topic. “Are female born to be emotional?” For exp: whenever they watch a sad love story and the main actor or actress die, more often than not they will end up crying.
To clear your doubt, we will elaborate in the following slides.

First of all, let’s define this key term: Gender role. T asks “Can you anything strange about this picture?” The picture is strange because in general people expect boys to play with cars or gun, girls to play with dolls.

As we have learned earlier from the previous presentation, who we are and how we behave and what we think is a final product of a process called Socialization. At the same time, through socialization we also learn our gender role, in other words what is appropriate and not appropriate for our gender. We are not born to know about our gender role (boy should do this, girl should do that, boy shouldn’t do this, girl shouldn’t do that), it is the society that tells us so.

Let’s analyze on how family shape who we are. You see, it is very difficult for a child to grow into an adult without facing any gender stereotyping.  At a very young age, we were taught what is masculine (which is a male quality), feminine (female quality). Boys are told they should not cry, weak and afraid of anything, but they should be strong and dominant. On the other hand, girls are told to be gentle.

Our parents choose the color of our clothes according to our gender, pink or red to girl, blue to boy. Our parents also buy different kinds of toy for us to play. They would buy gun or car for boys, and barbie doll for girls. They also expect different behaviour from the two kids. Parents also choose different kinds of activity. They would encourage their daughter to do some housework and encourage their son to play sport. Moreover, boys are allowed to go far away from home and late at night, whereas girls should stay at home.
